This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 2 June, 1959. "The annual winter meeting of the Thistle Caledonian Society was held at the Methodist Hall yesterday. The photograph shows the winners of the under eight years Highland fling. They are (from right): Carol Godfrey (Raetihi), who was first, Andrea Ross, (Palmerston North), who was second, and Carol Intman (Palmerston North), who was in third place. There were entries from as far north as Auckland and as far south as Blenheim."
