From Coleman Place to Broadway Avenue, The Square
- Description
Looking from Coleman Place, down Broadway Avenue. The Australasian Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society Ltd (T&G) building is missing from this photograph as it was built in 1938. In the far distance is the spire of St Patrick's Church. The ornate building in the middle of the photograph is the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ). This building was constructed in 1915, to replace the former BNZ on the corner of Fitzherbert Avenue and The Square. It was demolished to make way for a new BNZ in 1988. It is now occupied by retail stores. See 2014n_sq273_008674 for a later view.
