This photograph is one of four views of Church Street taken by Alf Taylor in the 1950s. This view looks through The Lakelet onto the corner of Church Street West and The Square. On the left is the old Municipal Chambers (now Square Edge). The large three-storey building on the opposite corner is the Grand Hotel.
