Two members of the cast of the Palmerston North Operatic Society's production of "Orpheus in the Underworld" accompany the captain of the Manawatu Rugby Team on a vintage car ride from the Palmerston North Airport to the Square. From left: Duncan Hales with the Ranfurly Shield, Vivienna Ayers, the Mayor Brian Elwood and Janice Walker. Manawatu defeated Auckland 12-10 on Saturday, 21 August 1976 to win the Ranfurly Shield.
