This image was published in the September 3rd 1978 edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper with the caption: “Lesley Burch and Michael Boustridge flourish the trophies won by their team and themselves on their return to Palmerston North. Looking on are members of the team that went to Dunedin. From left, they are: Mick Page (Feilding) who was responsible for their training [sic], Christine Laing (Feilding), Paula Strickson (Palmerston North), Sue Carter (Feilding), Tracey Simeon (Feilding), Mark Painter (Palmerston North), Robin Vining (district cadet officer), and Maria Kendrick, (district secretary).”
An excerpt from the article read: “Two national cadet titles have been won by the Manawatu St John Ambulance Brigade and it's the first time that boys in the brigade have carried off these awards. Feilding cadet Micheal Boustridge won the title for the best "number two" in any St John' s cadet team in New Zealand, and Lesley Burch's team was judged the best for drill and inspection. The awards were made at brigade's national contest, which was held at Dunedin on August 25 and 26. Ten St John's teams from all over New Zealand competed. The Manawatu team returned home last Tuesday.”
