This factory was established in the 1880s by William Wescombe Corpe. In 1903 it was purchased by Joseph Nathan & Co Ltd and the factory enlarged. W W Corpe, pictured in the photograph, remained as Manager for about one year after Nathan took over. In 1920 Nathan sold to the Cheltenham Co-Op Dairy co. Ltd., who rebuilt in brick and continued in business until they merged with Manawatu Co-Op Dairy Co. Ltd., in the 1960s. This factory was the first in New Zealand to manufacture dried milk.
