This house in Linton Street was one of five established around New Zealand in 1978 under the Government’s Emergency Housing Scheme. The house was bought by the Housing Corporation and leased at a nominal rent to the Palmerston North City Council, who supervised the house and allocated temporary tenancies to homeless families.
