This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 19 December, 1959. “Installed in the nose of the United States Navy Savage aircraft recently based at Ohakea was this large aerial camera used for taking oblique photographs. The nose of the aircraft is hinged to permit servicing of the camera.”
