C J Wycherley migrated from the United Kingdom to New Zealand in 1885 with his wife and children. By 1892 the family were living in Ashhurst where Wycherley worked as a saddler. The family later established the business C W Wycherley and Son, Saddlers and Harness Makers, in The Square, Palmerston North (c.1899-1919). The man third from the left is Charles Wycherley and the woman on the right is his wife Mary.
