Photo taken from vantage point (perhaps the PDC department store) looking towards the clock tower and beyond to the D.I.C. department store. The clock tower was built in 1955, after a donation by local businessman, Arthur Hopwood.

The photograph was taken by Alf and Merlyn Drew, to test equipment for their business, Photo Instruments Limited which operated at 55 Princess Street from 1959-1989.
