This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 23 May 1961 "A further honour has fallen to Flying Officer John Lockhart Mills, R.N.Z.A.F., in his graduation as a Master of Engineering, with distinction, at Canterbury University. Last year he was awarded a Todd Post-Graduate Research Scholarship. The son of Mr. E.W. Mills, of Albert Street, Palmerston North, Flying Officer Mills was educated at New Zealand Friends School, Wanganui and at the Palmerston North High School. In 1958 he was awarded an R.N.Z.A.F. scholarship in engineering and in 1960 he graduated as a Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical).""
