This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 9th February 1963. "The assembly hall of the Palmerston North Teachers' College was full to capacity this morning. The occasion was an important one for many of the students who were embarking on their teaching careers. The official opening of the 1963 term was performed by Mr W. H. Brown, M.P., the chairman of the Wanganui Education Board. Other speakers included the Mayor (Mr. G. M. Rennie) who welcomed the students on behalf of the residents of the city."
