Old and new Ashhurst bridges
- Description
The old wooden bridge over the Manawatu River was replaced by a concrete structure costing $500,000, opened in December 1969. In latter years of the old bridge's use, heavy traffic was restricted by weight limitations . The photograph is taken from the eastern side of the river looking towards Ashhurst. Palmerston North Boy Scouts are selling commemorative certificates to motorists to raise funds for a new hall.
