Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 13 June 1961 "During the height of the fire in the top storey of Mr. C.M.A. Kebbell's home at Ashhurst yesterday Palmerston North Fire Brigade members hosing down the hallway and stairs in an effort to prevent further damage to the home found a cupboard under the stairs containing numerous pieces of crystal and some vases. The firemen are pictured wading through inches of water covering the floor of the front hall to remove some of the articles."
