Description

Born in England in 1837, George Snelson arrived in New Zealand in 1861. He settled in Palmerston North in 1871 and was elected Mayor in 1877. Caption (indistinct) reads, "G.M. Snelson who left Wellington for Palmerston North in the 'Go Ahead' steamer, April 1871. See also 2007N_Pi1_PEO_0339 and 2013N_Pi206_006897.
