This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 20 January, 1964. "Off into the unknown--at least in their imaginations--are these young people, all members of the Rowland family. This historic canoe--among several articles on display--was used by the children's ancestor, Mr David Rowland, on the Manawatu River 90 years ago."
