The factory, established in 1900 by McMillan and Frederick, was taken over by Dalgety and Co. Ltd. and then sold to the newly formed Shannon Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd in 1909. The Shannon Co-op ran the factory until 1929, when a new building was constructed.
