- Description
This building was erected in late 1905 by Mr A. France at a cost of £840 for Harriet Kerslake. It was designed by Ernest Larcomb and housed two shops. The huge fire of 22 February 1924 gutted the building, but reinstatement work was completed. Coo-ee Drycleaners was there by 1927 – and moved next door in 1977. The Skylight coffee bar operated downstairs between 1979 and 1984, its former fire escape through the upstairs window, is still evident. A variety of occupants have been there since then. Designed in the Edwardian Italianate Palazzo style, the façade and the shop fronts appear to remain relatively original.
