This image is believed to have been taken by Palmerston North Engineer Frank (Frances Leslie) Berry. Featured is the Bank of New Zealand (on the corner of Rangitikei Street and Broadway) and Manawatu Patriotic Society building on the corner of the Square.
The Manawatu Patriotic Society was formed during World War One for fundraising and welfare purposes. The chairman of the Society's Committee was Mr J A Nash, Mayor of Palmerston North.
The Bank of New Zealand was built on the corner of Rangitikei Street and The Square (1914-1915), on the site of the old Royal Hotel.
