  • View of a Military Training Camp - postcard from Bob Eastwood
Description

Robert (Bob) Edward Allen Eastwood (1895-1973), served with the 4th Battalion 3 NZ Rifle Brigade from May 1916 until July 1918, when he was discharged on medical grounds. This postcard presumably depicts the military camp where he undertook his training before departing New Zealand. This inscription reads: "Well mother dear if you would like a letter every day just say so but send about a £1 worth of stamps. These cards cost 1d each so depend upon it you won’t get a card every day. Some of the boys in our hut went to Upper Hutt on a dancing expedition tonight. All my wouser [sic] friends seem to be quite content down here. I am happy enough but could do with an up to date mate in the hut.
I remain your loving son R Eastwood."
