Mr Peter Nightingale (pictured) collected the parts of the original Woodville fire engine for 2 years and restored it at his home in Levin. He hoped to have it finished in time for Woodville's centennial celebrations from 9 - 19 March 1975. The cab and chassis were found in Marton being used for a turkey house. The fire box was down a bank after proving useless as a farm trough. The front axle and wheels were in a Woodville garage. Other parts have been dug up in various places. Much of the fire fighting equipment has also been found.
