This picture was taken after a sudden flood in the Pohangina Valley. At the peak of the flood, at about 9 pm, 12 March 1975, the river was more than 4 metres above normal flow. Pohangina Valley is rural district north of Ashhurst. It is named after the river that flows through it and is about 50 Kilometres long.
