This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 18 December 1958: "The official party at the annual breaking-up and prize-giving ceremony of the Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School yesterday. From left to right: Messrs. G. Bertram (chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association), H. Hall (senior inspector), W.H. Brown (chairman of the Wanganui Education Board), B.G. Jackson (headmaster), L.E. Simmons (chairman of the school committee), Miss J. N. Wallace (the guest-speaker), Mr. W.B. Tennent, M.P., Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. F. Goodall (the retiring first woman assistant)."
