Empire Hotel, corner of Princess and Main Streets.
- Description
After the first Palmerston North Empire Hotel, built in 1890, burned down in 1895, this building was constructed as a replacement in the same year. The hotel was modernised to what is seen in the photograph. In 1981 it was redesigned and redecorated, more in keeping with the original building. It has had four make overs in its lifetime. It currently houses the Cobb and Co restaurant and bar (2009).
