Peter John Anderson family farm house, Whakarongo
- Description
This house was constructed during the 1870s or early 1880s for Mr. Peter John Anderson and his family on the main road at Whakarongo. Mr. Anderson, his wife and two infant sons migrated to New Zealand from Sweden in 1871, arriving on the sailing ship ‘England’. They built this houses themselves felling all the timber required. The house was relocated in 1984 to Clifton Terrace where it underwent restoration. Miss Ellen Anderson and Mrs. Maja Cajsa Anderson are in the photograph.
