Description

At 18, Roy Sefton joined the Navy. In 1968, he settled in Palmerston North where in 1975 he was Savings Promotion Officer with the Palmerston North Post Office. In September 1976, he was appointed manager of the Glasgow Gallery. Roy Sefton took an interest in art from an early age and since coming to Palmerston North has devoted virtually all his leisure time to studying and painting in oils. He is also involved with the New Zealand Nuclear Test Veterans' Association, and was awarded the Peace Foundation's peacemaker of the year award for 2010 for his "outstanding efforts to sustain peace, support those affected by nuclear tests, and achieve a nuclear-free world".
