This image was not published in The Manawatu Evening Standard, taken on 9 January, 1964. "This tangled mess of debris and wood is Black's Bridge on the Kahuterawa Road, spanning the stream of the same name. A complete section of the bridge collapsed into the stream when floodwater washed a pile away during Wednesday's rain. The water rose 11ft. in an hour, damaging the culverts and washing away parts of the road." Another image of the bridge was published on 11 January, 1964.
