This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 8 January, 1964. "These photographs shows scenes in and around the city during the torrential downpours this morning. An hour later however all the water had cleared away. By lunchtime the sun made an appearance but the strong winds were helping to dry things out. Top left, shows King Street looking towards Rangitikei Street; top right is lower Ferguson Street; centre left, outside Mr. D. O'Brien's shop in King Street; centre right, on the corner of King and Rangitikei Streets; lower left, at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Ferguson Street; and lower right, on the corner of Morris and Ferguson Streets."
