Mr A Cranson, watch and clock repairer of 46 The Square, maintained the town clock in the Clock Tower. In 1970 Peter Hall, Town Clerk for the Palmerston North City Council, wrote to confirm an increase of payment for maintenance from 75 cents to $2.50 per week.
