This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 27 June, 1959. "Messers J. T. Thorneycroft (left) and J. Andrews holding the head of a samba stag which they shot in the coastal belt between Foxton and Tangimoana. Mr. Thorneycroft first sighted it coming over a sand dune."
