Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 01 August 1961 "Ten members of the French Rugby team were present at Messrs. G.H. Bennett and Coy's shop and were "mobbed" by autograph hunters as they signed copies of the book "The Rise of French Rugby," by M. Georges Duthen, who was also present. Three of the team are shown signing their names for Miss Carol Martin, of Palmerston North. Later, in the Square, two players, seeking solitude, were "trapped" by about 20 boys with autograph books."
