Journalist Tina White's weekly "Memory Lane" article in the Manawatū Standard. On Monday 10 July 1967, New Zealand swapped pounds, shillings and pence for dollars and cents. The new coins presented some problems for parking meters and domestic gas meters. Nevertheless, Finance minister Robert Muldoon reported a smooth, strain-free transition.
