Carriages Drive Through The Square
- Description
This early colour postcard depicts four carriages making their way through The Square. The building with the clock tower to the right of the postcard is Palmerston North's fourth post office. Though the tower and clock mechanism were removed after the Wellington earthquake, the rest of the building remains in the same location - the corner of Main Street East and The Square. It is now a cafe and bar. After a long stint in storage, the clock mechanism was put into the Hopwood Clock Tower and remains there to this day.
