This image was not published in the Manawatu Evening Standard, taken on 29 February, 1964. "Water seeped into many shops in the city's commercial area yesterday. Coleman Place (see also 2017N_2017-20_018544, 2017N_2017-20_018545) was one of the stretches worst hit. According to a traffic officer, motorists did not help the already taxed traffic congestion conditions during the 8 p.m. rush. This was especially evident at the Broadway Avenue-Princess Street intersection. the officer claimed that many drivers made tours of the flood areas instead of driving home by the quickest route."
