Miss P M Hastings retired December 20 1973 from Terrace End School. An official presentation was made to her on behalf of the staff, school committee and parents marked the end of the 46 years of teaching, 25 of them at Terrace End. Miss Hastings began her career as a pupil-teacher at Terrace End and then went to Wellington Teacher's Training College. She then returned to Terrace End for 2 years. She also taught at Ohakune, Tokomaru and various schools in Palmerston North.
