A.E. Mansford (c1886-1962) was Mayor of Palmerston North 1931-1947 and a Borough Councillor 1927-1931. 'Gus' Mansford was born in Nelson and came to Palmerston North in 1907, starting an auctioneering business in Cuba Street. Later he became a public accountant in Rangitikei Street. He was awarded an O.B.E in 1946.
