The Seventh Day Adventist faith was introduced to Palmerston North in 1894. This church hall was officially opened by the Mayor, Mr. B G C Elwood, 1 October 1977. The hall catered for young people’s entertainment as well as for the adjacent church school. Much of the construction was done with voluntary labor. The hall also served as the rooms for the church Women’s Welfare Society. the Seventh Day Adventist College is now located in Longburn.
