This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 22nd January, 1963. "Instantly on arrival at the Centennial Lake last night, firemen from the Palmerston North Fire Brigade were quickly under way with their demonstration. Above are seven of the eight hoses put into operation. At the back is a large crowd that watched despite the cold weather conditions".
