This postcard is of The Square - Main Street is shown running through the middle of the image. Prominent features of this postcard are the band rotunda and the old Post Office. The original, smaller, structure was built 1899 and moved to the Victoria Esplanade in 1907. This rotunda was built in 1907, but pulled down in 1956 to make way for the Hopwood Tower. The old Post Office (corner of Main Street East and The Square, now Highflyers Restaurant & Bar) was built in 1906 and was Palmerston North’s fourth, replacing the wooden structure that sat on the same site. This postcard is decorated with the words, "Greetings from Palmerston North".
