This envelope and address contained within, was the first to be posted at the new Post Office in Palmerston North, on the occasion of its opening 5 February 1906. It was posted by Maurice Cohen, Mayor of Palmerston North, to Sir Joseph George Ward, Postmaster General of New Zealand, who opened the building. The address welcomes Sir Joseph to Palmerston North and acknowledges his work as Postmaster General, and is signed by Maurice Cohen.
