Under a Housing Corporation Scheme called CHIPS (Community Housing Improvement Programme) this house was among about 32 houses in Campbell Street, between the Grey Street extension and Featherston Street, that qualified for Government assistance to help with their rehabilitation. Number 36 was owned by garage proprietor, George Hoskins, who renovated the house.
