This building was known as Ashleigh House. Early occupants included Richard James, sail and tent maker (1894) and John Piercy, settler (1896). The building was used as a guest house between the 1950s and 1980. The Reid family ran a haberdashery business from the premises and it was later used as a Christian bookstore owned by Tony and Karen Hewitt, before being sold as a residential house.
