This is the programme for the Fiftieth Annual Festival of the Manawatū Competitions Society, which was held at the Opera House, Concert Chamber, Baptist Hall and St Andrew's Hall between 5 May and 9 May 1973. The competition categories included speech and drama, dance and music (both vocal and instrumental). Most entrants were children or young people. In addition to listing the events and names of competitors, the programme features advertisements for local businesses. This includes full page ads for Beggs (music store); Te Papaioea (musical production); Consumer's Co-operative Society (Manawatū); Manawatū Knitting Mills Ltd; Dalgety Travel: Splashe (soft drinks); and Collinson & Cunninghame Ltd (department store).
