The Church was built by George Nye and John Cameron at a cost of £400. The Reverend James Duncan held services in this building from 1867 until his retirement in 1897, and continued to occasionally hold services there until his death in 1907, aged 95 years old. Anglican services also appear to have been held there until the construction of the Anglican Church in 1869.
