This is the programme for the Seventeenth Annual Festival of the Manawatū Competitions Society, which was held in the Opera House and Empire Hall between 6 May and 11 May 1940. The competition categories included elocution (speech and drama), dance and music (both vocal and instrumental). Most entrants were children or young people.
