Manawatū Competitions Society, Official Programme, Ninth Annual Festival

This is the programme for the Ninth Annual Festival of the Manawatū Competitions Society, which was held in the Opera House and Municipal Hall between 9 May and 17 May 1930. The competition categories included elocution (speech and drama), dance and music (both vocal and instrumental). Most entrants were children or young people. In addition to listing the events and names of competitors, the programme features many advertisements for local businesses. This copy belonged to W. Newlands, secretary of the society, and includes additional pages and handwritten notes. Pages 29 and 30 are missing from the copy held as part of the Manawatū Performing Arts Competition Society archive.
