This is the programme for the Twenty-Third Annual Festival of the Manawatū Competitions Society, which was held in the Opera House, Municipal Hall and St. Andrew's Hall between 13 May and 18 May 1946. The competition categories included elocution (speech and drama), dance and music (both vocal and instrumental). Most entrants were children or young people. The programme includes an explanation of the judges' systems of marking inside the front cover. The are also full-page advertisements for the Sun Aria Contest (p.5) and L. M. Buick-Constable's photographic studio (p.22).
