This is the programme for the Thirty-Ninth Annual Festival of the Manawatū Competitions Society, which was held in the Opera House, Concert Chamber and St. Andrews Hall between 7 May and 12 May 1962. The competition categories included elocution (speech and drama), dance and music (both vocal and instrumental). Most entrants were children or young people. In addition to listing the events and names of competitors, the booklet features advertisements for local businesses who sponsored pages in the programme. Some of these advertisements, together with the lower part of pages 3 and 4, have been cut out the copy held as part of the Manawatū Performing Arts Competition Society archive.
