William Park came to Palmerston North in 1883 and set up business as a bookseller and stationer. He also served as the 8th Mayor of Palmerston North, 1893-189. He married twice and had 14 children. In 1887 he built a 20-room house, ‘The Wattles”, on a 4 acre section. The property was particularly known for its gardens. the property was later owned by Frederick Joseph Nathan and was demolished in 1967. This postcard was sent from J Park to Minnie Herrman, Milton Road, Napier, in 1907.
